In John 16:16–24, Jesus promises that the sorrow his disciples are about to experience will not be the end of the story, but will be transformed into lasting joy through his resurrection. Because Christ is risen and sees us, both our deepest spiritual grief and our present personal sorrows are met with a joy that no one can take away.
