WHAT IS ADOPT A TEACHER?
We've asked our church to pick one staff member from Columbia High School (CHS) to pray for and encourage throughout the school year.
WHY ADOPT A TEACHER?
We believe it's important to show the love of Christ to the people in our community. What better place to do that than the very spot we gather to meet each Sunday. Jesus placed incredible importance in prayer, with God and for others. So, we want to pray for the staff at CHS. We also believe love has feet and hands. So through simple encouraging notes and gifts, we hope to show the love of Christ to these people. We want to love like Jesus. We hope the staff at CHS sees that.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME?
We aren't asking for much from you. Prayer, a note, and simple but impactful gift for them. We believe prayer matters, but knowing that someone is praying for you, thinking of you and encouraging you goes a long way. We want the staff at CHS to know they are appreciated and loved.
SCHEDULE
Weekly:
Which ever teacher, or faculty member, you choose, we would ask that you would pray for them at least 3-4 times a week, if not everyday.
We will be sending out prayer prompts each week via the West Oaks App. We want to be very specific and strategic about what we are praying for.

Monthly:
On October 22, we ask that you would bring with you to service a short, encouraging note to your teacher. We want this note to let them know:
1.) Who you are 2.) What church you are from 3.) Something specific you've been praying for them 4.) Some form of encouragement that is practical.
We will deliver to them at the end of that week for you!.
On November 19th, we ask that you'd bring a $5 gift card in a card for your teacher. This gift card can be to a place where they can get a sweet treat, like Sonic, Starbucks, or Whataburger. We'd love to show them our appreciation for them in a simple, practical way. Who doesn't love sugary treats?!
We will resume our Adopt a Teacher in January when school resumes with a candy bar or bag of candy.
